Visa Inc, the exclusive payment provider for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, officially debuted the newest payment technology in use at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. To celebrate the grand opening of Rio 2016's Copacabana Megastore, Team Visa Athletes purchased their first items at the store, using their Visa Payment Ring, an NFC-enabled wearable that allows the 50+ Team Visa athletes to make purchases by simply tapping their ring at any NFC-capable payment terminal at the Copacabana Megastore or anywhere in Rio contactless payments are accepted.
