Smithfield and Richard Petty Motorsports driver Aric Almirola, were at the Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati to donate more than 25,000 pounds of protein to families in need. Smithfield partnered with Kroger to make this donation that will provide 100,000 servings to the Greater Cincinnati community.
Aric Almirola as well as representatives from Smithfield, Kroger and Freestore Foodbank discussed the importance of providing assistance to our neighbors in need and helped raise awareness of food insecurity across the country.
While the unemployment rate has begun to drop and more jobs are created, millions of Americans still struggle with food insecurity. According to Feeding America, more than 48 million Americans live in food-insecure households. Food assistance organizations across the country report that individuals and families are turning to them for assistance.
