Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida – Walt Disney World Clubhouse and The Hartford hosted 50 Orlando teens on Wednesday March 27th to receive hands-on training to get them ready for a College & Career fair later that day at the Levy Hughes Clubhouse. In addition, The Hartford showcased their Mobile Response Unit to explain how it helps in disaster-stricken areas.
Led by The Hartford volunteers, the teens participated in “Resume Reviews” and “Creating a Career Pitch” in their newly renovated College & Career Center. For the “Creating a Career Pitch” workshop, The Hartford volunteers assisted the teens with brainstorming, drafting and practicing their elevator-style pitch to introduce themselves to college recruiters and employers at the fair. As a part of “Resume Reviews,” the teens used resume building best practices to update and finalize their resume for printing to take copies to the fair.
About 200 teens are expected to attend the College & Career fair.
